The Learning Connection is a Rhode Island based learning center that offers a wide variety of short courses and seminars designed to give adults the opportunity to learn from others in their own industry with skills and knowledge to share.

Shopping Federal Hill: An insider's Italian Food Tour Go for a behind-the-scenes tour of the great Italian food shops, restaurants and butchers on Federal Hill, Providence's famous Italian neighborhood. Cindy Salvato describes each retailer and introduces you to the chefs, bakers and ravioli makers. Along the walk sample cheese, antipasto, bread, wine, chocolates and cookies. Glance inside a 75-year-old brick oven and watch local artisans make handmade chocolate and pasta. Guests leave with recipes, coupons and new places to shop. Plenty of tips and advice about Italian cooking and how to use the wonderful ingredients found in the Federal Hill shops. Wear comfortable shoes. Note: Tour agenda may vary. Shopping Bristol: A three-hour culinary and historical tour of Historic Bristol, RI. Registrants meet at Coggeshall Farm in Bristol. The tour starts promptly at 9:00 am and will explore Bristol’s great restaurants and wonderful history. You’ll visit the shops and restaurants, meet the chefs and peek into one of Bristol’s premier historic homes. Wear comfortable shoes. Note: Tour agenda may vary. Perfect Grilled Pizza: The 4 Secrets If you like to eat grilled pizza, this course is for you. Learn the four secret techniques to making a perfect grilled pizza at home. In this hands-on class, find out about grilling over wood, gas, electric or even on a Foreman Grill. You will take the art of grilled pizza from canvas to finished masterpiece. Home Brewing for Beginners Have you ever thought about brewing your own beer? Dreamt about serving your own homebrew for special occasions? If you enjoy craft beer and can boil water, this is the hobby for you! Learn about the necessary equipment, ingredients, and the process of homebrewing. Cook for a week in 3 Hours Learn how to make a week's worth of dinners in under three hours. Join this cooking demonstration aimed to help busy people create home cooked meals without all the stress. Using organic, seasonal, whole foods when available, you will make tasty and healthy meals. Receive recipes and nutritional tips during this fun and interactive class. Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone Vegetarian food doesn't have to be bland, tofu-ridden and well, scary. Try new varieties of vegetables that you probably pass by in the market, as well as some favorites like homemade veggie burgers. Learn about vegetarian sources of protein like tempeh and soy. All recipes are easily duplicated at home. Bring your appetite!

Healthy One Dish Meals is aimed toward busy people, or those who like to reduce their time in the kitchen. Students will receive wonderful ideas on how to make several dishes using whole grains and vegetables that are simple and a hit for the whole family. These meals lend themselves to cooking once and eating several times. Join Jessica Mason, HHC for a cooking demonstration and useful nutritional tips. Food will be served. The Art of Artisan Bread A wonderful, steaming hot loaf of bread is one of life's pleasures. Learn the basics of making artisan yeast breads including correct use of ingredients, techniques, and handcrafting loaves. Comparative Wine Tasting How often are you able to sit and enjoy different wines from many regions of the world? This comparative tasting will enable you to clearly distinguish between different varietal wines as well as their specific regions of origin. Learn to tell the difference between a Chardonnay produced in California and one made in France or Australia. Discover how to distinguish a California Cabernet from a red Bordeaux.
